Join us in 2011 for Iolanthe!

Savoy's 2011 production will be Gilbert and Sullivan's 7th opera, Iolanthe

This "fairy opera," is actually a political satire in which the English House of Lords is lampooned as a bastion of the ineffective, privileged and dim-witted. The political party system and other institutions also feel the sting of Gilbert's wit. Yet, both author and composer managed to couch the criticism among such bouncy, amiable absurdities that it is all received as good fun.

Both Gilbert and Sullivan were at the height of their creative powers in 1882, and many people feel that Iolanthe is the most perfect of their collaborations.

Performances will beThursday May 26 & Friday May 27 at 8:00 p.m. at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, and Friday June 10 & Saturday June 11 at 8:30 p.m. at the outdoor theater in Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square.

If you would like to be placed on our priority ticket mailing list for future performances, please .
